The working process of the lubricating oil system: the lubricating oil is stored in the oil pan, when the engine starts to work, with the engine oil pump, the oil is pumped out of the oil pan, passes through the oil filter, and then sent to the parts that need lubrication through the oil pipeline, such as crankshafts, camshafts, rocker arms, etc. Finally, the oil flows back to the sump. It’s like this and it’s been looping over and over again, and it’s constantly working.
So what does a lubricating oil system do? 1. Lubricating effect. The oil creates film contact between the moving parts, reducing frictional resistance and power loss. 2. Cooling effect. The fluidity of the oil is used to take away part of the heat of the engine parts and prevent the parts from burning due to excessive temperature. 3. Cleaning effect. The circulating oil carries away the metal particles grinded by the engine during work, the dust drawn from the atmosphere and some solid substances produced by fuel combustion, preventing the formation of abrasives between parts and aggravating wear. 4. Sealing effect. The viscosity of the oil is used to make the oil adhere to the surface of the moving parts, which can improve the sealing effect of the parts and reduce air leakage. 5. Anti-rust effect. The lubricating oil film adsorbs on the metal surface, separating air and water, and plays a role in preventing rust and corrosion.
